Bread Poha
Hi Guys! How is it going? I have been away for quite sometime now, but today is the best day to come up with a scrumptious and quick recipe. I have been occupied in nothing since so long, which made me crave for food almost every time, hence this recipe. Now, I am a fan of poha, but it is not an easily available resource here, I get it only in Indian stores, which are not very near and it is a bit of a task to go there for merely poha. So I came up with this recipe that eliminates the need to run for poha by substituting it with bread. It is a very quick and easy one with ingredients that you always have at home, well almost. 🙂 The ingredients to serve 2 are:
  • Bread slices—4 (cut them to 1×1 cm size)
  • Onion, chopped—1 medium
  • Tomato, chopped—1 medium
  • Capsicum, chopped—1
  • Cooking oil—1 tbsp
  • Black mustard seeds—1 tsp
  • Green chili, finely chopped—1
  • Spices—turmeric powder (1/2 tsp), salt (as per taste), paprika (optional)
  • Lemon juice—1/2 a lemon (small)
Method: Heat a pan over medium-low and add oil. Add mustard seeds, as soon as they start to splutter add chopped green chilies and onions. Sauté onion till golden brown, followed by adding capsicum and cook for a minute. Add salt, turmeric and paprika and mix everything. Now add tomatoes and let it cook for a minute or two, till everything is cooked through. Now add the bread cubes and mix everything gently, and let it cook for 2-3 minutes. Sprinkle the lemon juice in the end, mix and serve with some ketchup on top. I really hope you guys try this one out and let me know what you think about it.
