DIY Lip Scrubs

Hey lovelies! Winters are all around us in full form. It is best to sit at home, all buckled-up for the day in your blanket, sipping on a cup of your favourite hot beverage with your heating appliances ON...:)

But one thing that annoys the most in this frigid time of the year is the dryness of the skin. It is utmost important to keep your skin supple and nourished so that it keeps on the natural and healthy glow. The concern with me during winters is dry lips, although I keep them moisturized, but still there are times when they just need that extra bit of exfoliation. Hence, today I have come up with my recipe of DIY lip scrubs. Please excuse me for that white thing that you see on the cranberry scrub jar, it was so cold that coconut oil just kept on freezing and I had to warm it up every 5 min.

All you are going to need:

  1. Granulated sugar, white or brown as you like it,
  2. Coconut oil,
  3. Flavors and/or fruits (I used cinnamon and cranberry but you can play with the flavor of your choice such as orange, almond, etc.) - as much or as less you want
  4. Jars to store your scrub.

Method:

Measure sugar till half of the jar that you are going to store your scrub in. Pour this sugar back in a mixing bowl, add equal amount of coconut oil to it along with the choice of flavors or fruits. I made the sugar and oil mixture and divided it in two bowls and then added pinch of cinnamon in one bowl and crushed cranberries in another, but you can make one at a time. Now fold the ingredients together making sure not to over mix as that can dissolve the sugar granules and defeat the purpose. As soon as you are done with the mixing, pour the scrub in your little jars and refrigerate until they set. Now your scrub is all ready to be used and give you those divine lips 🙂

This is how my cinnamon sugar lip scrub looked like, I hope you can see those granules.

Just make sure that you do not scrub your lips very abrasively, follow the exfoliation by moisturizer, do this not more than once or twice a week, and store it in a cool place.

I hope you guys try these DIY lip scrubs and let me know how they worked out for you. 🙂 Happy winters!

Love, AS
