Evening in Southbank | Melbourne Diaries

Southbank

As Melbourne is a new city for us, we went to explore Southbank on Valentine's day. We planned for dinner and then a stroll around the arcade. Southbank is a beautiful urban spot across Yarra river, filled with numerous attractions that would fit almost everyone's delights. It has a huge array of eateries, specialty multicuisine restaurants, fine dining restaurants, a pretty swanky and long river walk and a promise of time well spent. It reminded me of Paris and the strolls around river Seine barring the historic monuments. Thankfully, I carried my camera around to show you guys some glimpses of the day and the night. 🙂

When's better to unwind at this place then on a Valentine's day on a weekday? Initially, we thought to indulge in afternoon tea extravaganza but then later made up our minds for dinner so that we have a little more us time. We first had a couple of drinks and some munching at the 28 Skybar Lounge in Crown Metropol.  Honestly, it is just an okay place. Go there only if you like exploring new places. I was really disappointed in the place. It could have been so because of a weekday. They had a minimalist menu, average drinks for the prices and way too cool attitude of the staff; although, they offered customising something for me as I am a vegetarian. Maybe it wasn't our day at that place, it could have been better. :/

Then we headed for the stroll, also saw some gig by a street artist, who was super funny.

The city looked super pretty at night with all the skyscrapers lit up and setting the perfect contrast to the dark sky.
