So on my not-so-happening weekend, I came across this lip gloss in a beautiful rosy shade in my stash from which I have been shying away for a long time, more on that later in the post. This one is a gorgeous bold vintage rose shade by NYX Xtreme Shine Lip Cream in shade Bonfire. I have been obsessed with vintage rose or plummy shades lately, so much so that whenever I feel like wearing a lipstick or lip gloss or nail paint, I can only see shades in the family of pinks and plums, nothing else seems to be visible to my eyes, tsk, nope, not even a zilch! I ordered this couple of months ago from cherryculture.com along with few more babies. Personally, I did not wear it much in summers as I have combination/oily skin and I absolutely hate anything other than matte finish products. Now that it has been winters here, I got to explore many new things, one is this lippie. For winters, this one is an amazing product in a gorgeous rosy-plummy shade, that is good for day as well as night looks, is non-drying, budget buy with only one bad thing: it smells of plastic! Yes, you read it right, the smell of this has also been one reason why I shied away from this for a very long time. It is such a major turn off, although it vanishes after couple of minutes but those minutes are like the deepest part of the river, if you’re able to survive that you are good to go! 🙂 NYX Xtreme Shine Lip Cream_Bonfire NYX Xtreme Shine Lip Cream_Bonfire_1 NYX Xtreme Shine Lip Cream_Bonfire_Applicator NYX Xtreme Shine Lip Cream_Bonfire_Closeup NYX Xtreme Shine Lip Cream_Bonfire_Swatch Do you see how opaque it is in a single swipe? What I like about NYX Xtreme Shine Lip Cream:
  • Texture—It is very aptly named “Extreme Shine Lip Cream” as it has a boost of shine in it and it doesn't feel sheer like a normal gloss or solid like a lipstick, it actually feels like a thick, tinted cream on your lips with a non-sticky and non-drying formula which does not enhance the dryness of your lips and does not even settle into fine lines. That being said, you still need lip balm before applying this as it is not a very moisturising formula.
  • Pigmentation—It is quite opaque and very strongly pigmented with exact colour as in the bottle in a single swipe. Bonfire is a very rich plummy pink shade that is great for anytime of the day. It has a very strong stain, so you can also wear it by dabbing it off with a tissue paper which leaves a gorgeous pink stain.
  • Staying power—It stayed for a good 5 hours on me after which I had a beautiful stain on my lips which I didn't feel like touching up.
  • Packaging—Not much drama here. It comes in a very sleek, standard, transparent tube with a doe-foot applicator easing the application.
What I don’t like:
  • It smells yewk, has a very strong smell of plastic/chemical which could probably be from its major ingredient, castor oil. Although it fades after a few minutes, but it is definitely a point of dislike for me, in fact it is one major reason I shied away from this one for so long time. I really have to ignore the smell while applying or I just don’t feel like wearing it at all.
Priced at: $6 (now, but I ordered during SALE for $4.50) Quantity: 7 ml Overall, NYX Xtreme Shine Lip Cream is a great lip product in an even better price range that also comes in a myriad of shades; only if you can or are willing to ignore the smell part I’d definitely recommend it for a grab! Have you guys tried out this shade or any other from this range by NYX? Share your views with me in comments, I'd love to read. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by and reading!

Have a great Monday!
