The Body Shop Tea Tree Blemish Fade Night Lotion: Review|Photos
Hi Everyone! This is going to be my first post related to some beauty or skin care product. So, without much ado let's get to know The Body Shop's Tea Tree Blemish Fade Night Lotion.
Let me start with my skin type:
Combination—oily T-zone & normal-to-dry cheeks (depending on the weather)
Recently, my skin started misbehaving very much, so much so that at a point I was so irritated that I felt like giving up on anything that goes onto my face. I don't know whether it is due to some external (reaction to some product) or some biological (lack of sleep/stress/hormonal changes) reasons. I tried TBS Tea Tree Oil initially, after hearing positive reviews for the same, but it was kind of confusing how my skin reacted to that (will talk more about this in another post). Next, I bumped into this baby by The Body Shop.
What it claims?Suitable for blemished skin. Helps improve the appearance of blemish-damaged skin. Regular nightly use helps minimise the appearance of post-blemish marks and discolouration. What & how it works?
I have been using this for a month now, and I can tell you it may not be the miraculous product we all want in our lives to vanish acne or clear the skin overnight, but it is definitely a product that has been my holy grail since the second day I started using it. I could see visible reduction in the redness on my face. After few regular uses, I realized that this is one product that makes entry to my skin care routine for a very long time, maybe forever. It didn't agitate my skin at all as compared to my paranoia for products.
This lotion is infused with Tamanu oil in addition to tea tree extracts. Now, I am not a professional to claim or tell you anything scientific but as far as I have researched or dig the Internet, tamanu oil is known for it skin-healing properties since ages. For tea tree oil, we all know by now how best of a friend it is for irritated skin.
Instructions for use|IngredientsApplication: To make it work best for me, I use it as suggested, i.e., every night I follow my skincare routine with application of TBS Tea Tree Blemish Fade Night Lotion in gentle upward strokes. For me, one and a half pump of the product has been sufficient. Once applied on the entire face, I press it on my skin so that it penetrates the maximum, also because I don't want to keep massaging and stressing my skin.
Finish: The texture of this product is not very greasy, to me it feels gel-like and has a nearly matte finish, so it's good for summers as well as for beauties with oily skin. It should be fine for dry-skin beauties as well as I did not find it drying on my cheeks (I have combination skin). It has some cooling effect as well, the moment I apply it I can feel some cooling thing happening, which also assures me that it is working on my skin.
Scent: It has a very strong smell of tea tree extract, but that doesn't stay for long and vanishes in couple of minutes after application. Honestly, I never have a problem with scent, but if you are someone who can't bear scent then I'd suggest you ignore the smell (it will be there for a very short period) as the bigger concern here is the replenishment of your skin. 🙂
Packaging: It comes in a very convenient pump packaging, which is great for travelling as well and you don't have to worry about digging your nails in the jar, that means the entire product remains clean of any external microbes. After all, we don't want our already disturbed skin to have more uninvited microbes partying there...:p
Availability: I got this from The Body Shop, Japan, but it is easily available in India as well (check here).
Price: As everything is little expensive here in Japan, so was this, at ¥2,160/- but it is priced at INR 995/- in India.
Satisfaction scale: 4 on a scale of 5, happy and content!
