What's in my Travel Bag | Skincare

This post has been on my mind since forever. As you guys know I love to travel, and equally, I love to take care of my skin. My skin is very sensitive, is acne prone and gets irritated with anything. Hence, it is particularly important for me to not take my skin care regime lightly, especially while I'm traveling.

Recently, I traveled to Fiji to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary and I thought this would be the perfect timing to share what's in my travel bag with you guys. Fiji is a warm tropical destination, so my skincare was more inclined towards summer time instead of the winter time that's ongoing here in Australia.

In this post, I am sharing what's in my travel bag - skincare; the products that I carry with me while on a vacation. This is mainly my facial skin care edition (except the deodorant); I might share my hair care, makeup, and body care products in some other post in future. This is mainly my basic squad and there are products that I switch or add some extra stuff sometimes.

My skin type is combination (oily T-zone and dry cheeks) and acne prone; hence, the products are more inclined towards that need. Now, by any means, I am not saying that you should carry all these with you while traveling. For you, it might be just a few of these or may be a few more than these.  It's a very personal choice and it varies. Hence, take this post as just a guide and plan your skincare routine for your next travel adventure.

What's In My Travel Bag | Skincare

Simple Kind To Eyes Eye Makeup Remover. I usually do not wear makeup during the day on my holidays, especially if it's a beach holiday. But in case I do, or I do during the evening, this makeup remover is the best for me to take off my makeup, even the waterproof ones like mascaras and eye liners. It doesn't tingle or burn and doesn't cause my skin to break out. The best part, I can get the travel sized bottle and not worry about transferring it to a small bottle. The packaging is safe to be carried while traveling.

Sukin Foaming Face Wash. Sukin is one of my favorite brands that I got to try after moving to Australis. I love the fact that it is mostly natural, doesn't contain harmful chemicals, sulphate-free and paraben-free, and above all, really suits my skin. It doesn't disturb my skin at all. Although it says foaming in the name, it doesn't irritate my skin.

Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water. Micellar waters are all the range in the beauty industry at the moment and for all the right reasons. I tried this micellar water by Garnier a few months back and have since been hooked on to it. I use it has double/triple cleanse and it refreshes my skin while taking away and last bits of makeup or products from my face. You may also check my review of the same that I shared some time back here.

Sukin Hydrating Mist TonerToners are really important for me. They are so multifaceted, they refresh your skin, maintain the pH, and are perfect for a quick 'pick-me-up' in your bag. Normally, I use this one by La Roche-Posay but have recently gotten hooked to Sukin Hydrating Mist Toner. It is alcohol-free and a blend of rosewater and chamomile that soothes, purifies and refreshes tired skin.

NUXE Huile ProdigieuseLet the unending praise begin. This is one skincare product that is must for me every time - traveling or not. You can hydrate/moisturize pretty much any part of your body with this. I use it on my skin when it's dull and dehydrated, I use it on my hair, my finger tips, cuticles, elbows, toes, and everywhere else. It is so good that you guys have to try it to believe it.

The Body Shop Drops of Youth Youth Eye Concentrate. Eye creams are a must for me as I have quite dry skin around my eyes, some pigmentation and they definitely need some pampering, especially on holidays when the regular routine is a myth. I won't say this is my holy grail eye cream but it is a close find. If you guys have some suggestion for eyes cream then definitely share with me in the comments.

Sukin Facial Moisturiser.  So you know by now about my love for this brand (and I'm not sponsored). :/ I can just say that their products really suit my skin and my skin has been in a really good shape with these. So this moisturizer also comes in handy, with a tube packaging it's great for travels. It's not super duper greasy, it gets absorbed nicely into my skin and keep the moisture locked for long hours.

Blistex Ultra Lip Balm SPF 30+. You gotta have your lips cared for - hydrated and protected from the harmful UV. This one by Blistex does both the jobs for my lips. It's not a fancy one but as you can tell almost nothing that I shared is fancy, I'm low-key like that! 😉

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Face Sun Screen - SPF 50+. Most of all, sunscreen is a must. I cannot emphasize it more, it's already out there. You need it every single day, no matter you are out in the sun or not. This one by Neutrogena has been my favorite for years. It does the job it is meant to do, protect the skin from sun damage. It is light weight, doesn't leave any greasy, white-cast on the face, so that's a bonus.

Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Medicated Gel For AcneMust have for acne-prone skin girls. This is my must have for the breakouts that keep on happening every now and then. I apply it at night and by morning the acne actually reduces in size. It's a bit drying, hence I make sure to moisturize my skin nicely.

Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Deodorant. While this is not a facial skin care product but it goes in my skincare bag. Deodorant is a must have, you don't want to have a bad body odor anytime. This one really helps in keeping any odors at bay and is also anti-bacterial.

These are some really great products. absolute essentials for a travel bag. Thank you for sharing this list.

  • Shelley Coleman

I love the Simple range myself. Thank you for sharing your recommendations. Will definitely be packing some of them on my next trip.

  • Jhilmil Bhansali

I carry too little, just sunscreen, face cleanser and deo. Your travel bag seems perfect companion .

  • Oh the garnier miscellar water is great, I used to use it before I went cruelty free (as they test on animals) and am still trying to find a good replacement! I like the sound of some sunscreen too x

    • Oh, I didn’t notice that. Now I feel like I should filter the products I use.

  • Jen S

Oh boy, I don’t think I’ve ever used that many skin products nevermind carried them around lol. Too young for that. I do love the neutrogina sunscreen though! I keep that one on my whenever I’m out and about in the summer.

    • Believe me, when I was young I didn’t care about it as well. But when adult acne strikes you, you do things that you haven’t done before. 🙂

  • Kai Digger_Digg

You mentioned some great products for a travel bag, i love travelling and i travel places with my bike, so its not easy for me to carry everything, i carry deo, fash wash and soap in my travel bag.

  • Laura Dove

Great products for travelling! I could do with the tea tree gel, using heavy sun screen brings me out in a break out and I always end up with spots!

    • I have had my issues with sunscreen in the past Laura, but this one somehow suits my skin and never irritates it. 🙂

  • i also love Neutrogena! Ive been looking for a good moisturizer, would love to check out Sukin. hope they have it here in PI.

    • I’m not sure if they are available in PI but apparently Amazon stocks them. 🙂

  • Sonika

skincare is so necesarry, thanks for sharing tips will love to try them

  • arra carrasco-odeza

you got so many things in your travel bag skincare. Honestly I don’t carry that much whenever I go on a trip. Moisturizer, facial wash, sunblock and pimple eraser are a must to my skincare kit.

    • I know it seems like a lot but when you have to deal with a huge number of adult acne and acne scars on a daily basis you want to always take care of your skin and make sure it doesn’t get more irritated by the stress of travelling and changing conditions. 🙂

  • Nice tips of what to cary for skin care during travelling. I have to use this Tea tree stuff for my acne control. Thanks for sharing.

  • Poop Poop

Thank you for sharing these tips, it definitely will be very useful when I go traveling 🙂 – Wynne Katherine

  • Alison Rost

I’m forever at a loss about what to bring along when I travel. Loved this peek inside your bag. I’ve added the lip balm and sun screen to my Target list. Great products with SPF are a must! x

    • So true, we often tend to ignore SPF even though almost all of us are aware of its importance. 🙂

  • You take far more than I do away, I tend to go pretty basic when I am away although micellar water is always a must x

    • I didn’t use to until adult acne attacked my face; now I have to really make sure that I have everything in my armour to keep my skin in a good condition and while in the stress of travelling.

  • Katrina

    These are such great recommendations.
I’ll have to try some of them since I have the same type of combination skin that you have.

    • Oh, share what you liked the most, if you get to try. 🙂

  • Some great beauty products in your bag. I am a major fan of Nuxe.

    • I love NUXE too, have to try some more of their products. 🙂

  • Mayuri Saxena

These are some awesome products for travel bag. I love Garnier Micellar Water…it removes the last trace of dirt from the face. Just love it!

  • Ma CharmaineNess H. Nioda

I love your list and looks really helpful for traveling. When I have the chance to travel more, I think I’m gonna add some of the must-haves you shared here. Thanks.

  • Dogvills

Wow. You do have everything you will need to keep your face clean and supple. I have not heard of the other products you featured, but I guess they are worth trying. Thanks for sharing your photos.

  • First congratulation on your wedding anniversary, my husband and I are also in our 5th year together. It’s a big thing. I really love your selection of products, they are covering everything you need on a vacay. My personal favourite is the garnier micellar water.

    • Thank you so much Anna. Huge congratulations to you too. I know, it’s a big right, right? Sometimes it feels like these 5 years went in a blink and sometimes a day looks like forever. 😀

  • I go nowhere without my facial sunscreen and my moisturizer. They are so close to my heart and I feel like I am half without them! I like the ones you have shared! Your mist toner seems to have made my to-buy list! Also, congrats on your wedding anniversary!

    • That mist is a really good one, especially if you’re going to a beach (or hot) location. Thanks love! 🙂

  • Chiimmiii’s Happy World

I have not heard of these products you featured other then one or two, need to check out this brand 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

  • Christine Ann Dela Cruz

I really love your list. Such a great product you have. I need to check out of this brand.

  • Vladvaida.com

This got me thinking, wow I should definitely start working on my own skincare bag! Also congratulations on your anniversary!!

    • Thank you so much! 🙂

  • Hal Yusuf

wow thats a lot – but the right skincare products are definitely important for the skin ..once you get the right brand for you

  • Helen Clark

I always travel with all my skincare essentials too. I use that Body Shop eye cream too, it’s so lovely and cooling isn’t it.

    • I know, right? I love it. 😀

  • bc21578

I always carry blistex because my lips get chapped. Since hotels don’t always have lotion, I take that too. My hands tend to dry out.

  • Sonika Balyan

I would always carry my moisturiser +sunscreen + lip balm +towel .where ever I go as these are my essentials

  • Sarah Kranz

Thank you for sharing some of your travelling essentials! I always carry moisturizer and sunscreen!

  • This is a brilliant list! I’ve found that you can’t go wrong with micellar water, and as much hate as they get in the beauty world I always travel with a pack or two of wipes. They are just so handy and work a treat for on the go.

    • I know, I also almost always carry wipes while travelling. Sometimes it gets really difficult/tiring to do your full skincare routine and wipes come in really handy then. I limit those to my travels only though. 😀

  • Catvills

Wow. I think you got every skin care need covered with a travel kit like that. I only have a few – a cleanser, a toner, and a moisturizer. I think I should add more, like sunscreen!

  • I would have to say that sun screen is one of the most important of all those ingredients and I need to be doing better about that myself! ~ http://viabella-thebeautifullife.blogspot.com/

  • Cassandra R

Definitely using this list to help plan for my trip in two weeks. I’m a minimalist and always pack necessities without planning for anything else (which I always end up regretting). I’m going to invest in more travel size products so I can fit in my entire skin care routine and still have space for other things!

    • I’d really suggest investing in travel sized products, or buying some travel sized jars or bottles so you can carry your favourites in them by refilling. 🙂

  • Claire Lee

I also use the garnier skin active micellar! I think it’s a must item. Would love to try the sukin products, never heard but looks healthy and refreshing.

  • You have some great products here! I have never tried Garnier micellar water, but I did from Nivea and I am currently using one from Mixa. I guess it’s only fair I buy Garnier next time. I see you use La Roche Posay toner, what do you think about La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo?
    B, xx | http://www.queenbsdiary.com/

    • I have used La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo, but to be completely honest it didn’t work for me. I gave it a good long time (3 months) but it did nothing to improve my skin and acne situation, infact I got more breakouts with that. On the contrary Sukin’s products are doing really good for me. But, that doesn’t mean it won’t work for you, we all have different skin, so you never know it might be actually good for you. 🙂

  • Olgi

every women should take the above products with them because these are lifesave and budget friendly.

  • Eliza Casipagan

we have common stuff in our bags – I am a fan of Blistex Ultra Lip Balm (SPF 30+) and Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Face Sun Screen. My lips are prone to chops though its warm or cold or windy, so I make sure I always have these two.

    • My lips are always prone to chapping as well which can. Be painful. The lip balm sounds like a great way of changing that x

  • I do carry most of these products but just not the same brands. I wish I could be a minimalist in this category but hard to decide what to give up 🙂

    ❥ tanvii.com

    • I know, every time we pack for a trip, I have more skincare and makeup then clothes. 😀 😀

  • BuildYourOwnEmpire

At a first glance, I thought the tea tree gel was mayo, haha 🙂
The only products I take when I travel are micellar water and a make up remover. I pack too many clothes anyway so I have to compensate 😀

    • Hahaha, that would be weird, can you use mayo for anything? 😀

  • Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water is always in my wash bag when I’m travelling – it’s so handy for freshening up and taking away the grease and grime of the day! x

  • I love that you have the Thursday Plantation tea tree in there! I never travel without that in my bag!

    • It’s so good, right? I cannot imagine travelling without it either. 😀

  • Ketki Sharangpani

Such practical tips.. I want to try some of the products, they sound wonderful and love to have a go to bag for my trips.

  • Yes, these are all such great products to carry while traveling. I cannot travel without the micellar water, its amazing.

    xx, Kusum | http://www.sveeteskapes.com

  • Kim Gammage

This is such useful information, my skin is exactly the same as yours, plus with my psoriasis I have to be extra careful but the Simple eye make up remover is something i’m going to have to have a look for – I always have trouble getting my eyeliner off!

    • Oh you’ll love it. Also, if you like cleansing oils then you must try Simple’s Hydrating Cleansing Oil; it’s fantastic to take off even the most stubborn makeup without stressing or drying the skin out. 🙂

  • I really like the sound of the foaming face wash and I love that it is all natural as well and free from parabens. That is really important for me x

    • I have been trying so many products from Sukin, and I have to to say they are all so good. Earlier, LUSH used to be my favourite brand as it suited my acne prone skin very much, but now Sukin has been a really good alternative with slightly lower price range. You should try this, if you can get your hands on this. 🙂

  • I don’t wear make-up either when I travel, especially to a beach destination but I always pack my make-up removal wipes for the evening outs, when I do like to put on some mascara and some eye shadow. You have some really nice products in your travel kit.

  • The Blonde Diary Channel

So jealous that you went to Fiji! I haven’t tried any of these items. I live in Florida so they will probably work great with the climate here.
